Eligibility

•Law students (JD, LLB, LLM, or equivalent legal studies) or recent law graduates

•Demonstrated commitment to public interest law, environmental protection, human rights, or international governance

•Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills

•Fluency in English (working knowledge of French, Spanish, or another UN language is an asset)

•Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multicultural environment

•Legal eligibility to undertake an internship in Geneva, Switzerland

Details

The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) offers legal internships at its Geneva office. Interns work closely with CIEL attorneys on international environmental law, human rights, climate change, plastics treaty negotiations, and toxics governance. Responsibilities include conducting legal and factual research, drafting legal memos, policy analysis, preparing materials for international negotiations, and attending meetings at the United Nations and other international forums.
