The DAAD EPOS (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses) scholarship supports students from developing countries to pursue the M.Sc. Environmental Governance (MEG) at the University of Freiburg. The program focuses on the complex relationships between society, economy, and the environment. Applicants must apply for both the program and the scholarship simultaneously through the university's online application portal. The selection process is highly competitive and focuses on candidates who are expected to take on social responsibility and initiate processes of change in their home countries after their studies.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
At least two years of relevant professional experience after the first academic degree (at the time of application).
The last academic degree should generally not be older than six years at the time of application.
Candidates must be from a developing country (on the DAC list of the OECD).
Proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL iBT min. 100, IELTS min. 7.0).
A hand-signed CV (Europass format) and a hand-signed letter of motivation (max. 2 pages) with reference to current occupation.

Financial Benefits

Monthly stipend of 934 EUR for Master's students.
Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover.
Travel allowance (unless covered by the home country or another source).
One-off study allowance.
Monthly rent subsidy (under certain circumstances).
Monthly allowance for accompanying family members (under certain circumstances).
