Details

The British Academy Flexi-Grant portal is the official online grant management platform for the UK's national academy for humanities and social sciences. Through this system, researchers and scholars can apply for various funding schemes including Postdoctoral Fellowships, International Fellowships, Small Research Grants, Mid-Career Fellowships, Global Professorships, and Innovation Fellowships. The portal allows applicants to submit research proposals, manage ongoing awards, track application progress, and coordinate referee or institutional approvals.

Eligibility Criteria

This is the primary application portal for British Academy research grants, awards, and fellowships. General guidance for applicants:
Applicants must be conducting research in the Humanities or Social Sciences
Postdoctoral Fellowships require applicants to be early-career researchers within three years of doctorate award
International Fellowships target outstanding early-career researchers based outside the UK seeking to conduct research at a UK institution
Small Research Grants are open to postdoctoral scholars attached to a UK higher education institution or independent research organization
Applicants must register an account on the Flexi-Grant system to check specific eligibility guidelines and apply

Financial Benefits

Funding amounts and benefits vary according to the specific grant or fellowship scheme:
Postdoctoral Fellowships: Covers 80% of Full Economic Costs (FEC) including scholar salary, research expenses, and institutional overheads for up to 3 years
