Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must generally be under 35 years of age (as of April 1 of the year of arrival in Japan) and be a university graduate (or have equivalent academic ability). Specific academic background and language proficiency (Japanese or English) are required depending on the chosen field of study. Applicants must be nationals of countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan (including African countries). For the 2027 academic year, applications are expected to open around May-June 2026 through Japanese Embassies/Consulates.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded scholarship covering tuition fees, a monthly stipend (approx. JPY 143,000-145,000 for Master's/PhD students), and round-trip airfare from the applicant's home country to Japan.
