The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program aims to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea for graduate-level degrees, thereby promoting international exchange in education and mutual friendship between countries. The scholarship supports a wide range of academic fields and includes a mandatory one-year Korean language program. The embassy track application for the 2027 intake is expected to open around September 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens of GKS partner countries (African countries are included) and not hold Korean citizenship. Must be under 40 years of age (born after September 1, 1987 for 2027 intake). Hold a Bachelor's degree for Master's program, or a Master's degree for PhD program. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.64/4.0 or higher. Specific requirements vary by program and university. Must meet the health requirements.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded. Includes full tuition fees, monthly living allowance (KRW 1,000,000 for graduate students), round-trip airfare, settlement allowance, research allowance, Korean language training expenses, and medical insurance.
