Commonwealth Master's Scholarships 2027 (UK)

Details

Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships are for candidates from eligible low and middle income Commonwealth countries to undertake full-time Master’s study at a UK university. These scholarships are offered under six development themes. The application window for the 2027-2028 academic year is expected to open in August/September 2026 and close in October/November 2026. Applicants must apply through a national nominating agency in their home country or directly to a UK university that has a nominating partnership with the CSC.

Eligibility Criteria

Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country (including The Gambia and many other African countries).Be available to start academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2027.Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours, or a second class degree (2:2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country.Be nominated by an approved nominating body (e.g., national nominating agency, university).

Financial Benefits

Fully funded, covering:Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award.Approved tuition fees.Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,390 per month, or £1,700 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates for 2025-2026, subject to change).Warm clothing allowance (if applicable).Study travel grant towards the cost of approved travel during your award.Fieldwork grant (for PhD only, if applicable).Paid mid-term visit to your home country (if applicable).Family allowances (if applicable).
