This program offers individual scholarships to participants from developing countries for postgraduate courses with a special relevance to development. The deadline varies by course, but most fall between August 2026 and January 2027 for the 2027/28 intake. The date provided is a general estimate.
Eligibility Criteria
Work for a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country (according to the DAC list, which includes The Gambia).Hold a Bachelor’s degree (usually four years) in a related subject.Have at least two years of professional experience after the first degree.Language skills: English or German, depending on the course.Demonstrate strong motivation and connection to development-related topics.
Financial Benefits
The scholarship is comprehensive and includes:Monthly payments of 934 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates.Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover.Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding.Under certain circumstances, scholars may receive a monthly rent subsidy and a monthly allowance for accompanying members of family.
